Updates Galore – Books, Health & EVERGREEN

Hi friends! 🙂

I have a lot of news to share, so I thought I’d do it all in one post.

So read on to catch up on the latest!

Health Updates

Though I sometimes don’t follow through with my new health plan, I manage to do it most of the time. (Making and eating so many salads is really getting old, but I know it’s important for protecting my vision.)

The good news is that I’m only a couple of pounds shy of my weight loss goal, which means I’ve shed 33 unwanted pounds since June. In many ways I feel better than I’ve felt in years–as in 20 years!

My fibromyalgia pain and symptoms have virtually disappeared. I’m sleeping better and suffering less with depression. I’m so grateful to the Lord for guiding me along this path to better health!

Thanks to all of you for your prayer support and words of encouragement. It means more than I can say! ❤

As you know if you read my last blog post, I’m back to writing!!! I cannot tell you how good it feels to feel like writing and to be motivated to write for the first time in a very long time.

I’m happy to report that as of the writing of this post, I’m at over 20,000 words for my 50,000 word goal on EVERGREEN, my second Christmas novella.

Please pray that I’ll be able to get the rough draft completed in the next week or so. That way I’ll have time to do several rounds of edits and take it through the publishing process so that it’s out for the Christmas season.

Updates on my Books

For the past several years, I’ve allowed readers to download my eBooks for free. (If you want to know why, you can read this post.) To hopefully still bring in income, I asked readers for donations if they enjoyed the stories and other books.

So many have been so generous with your support, not just financially, but with prayer support, encouragement, leaving book reviews, and sharing the books with others. I am so blessed to call you my friends!

But my income took a huge hit from this route.

I struggled for several months with this decision, mainly because I love being able to share my books for free. But I also needed to be contributing more to our family finances.

So here’s what my current plan of action is concerning my books. Most of them will remain free. This includes the first three Miller’s Creek books and all of the LifeSword Nonfiction books.

The rest of the Miller’s Creek stories and PIECES ON EARTH (my first Christmas novella) will be sold exclusively on my website and Smashwords.

This is going to be a HUGE experiment because most of my book downloads come from Amazon. But I figured that it was worth a try, in spite of the added work to make it happen.

This included updating the book files, reloading them to various sites, finding and implementing a secure sales platform (SendOwl), and updating the books’ pages on this website. (If you’d like to get a glimpse of the changes on the website, you can check out the following book pages. Clicking the button takes you to Send Owl, where you can securely add books to your cart, check your cart, and make your payment. Very pleased with this service so far!!!)

Updates Wrap-Up

As you can see, it’s been a busy, but very productive few weeks.

I’m really so thrilled with the way things are going so far, and I covet your prayers as I continue my health journey, work on EVERGREEN, and trying something new with my books.

Wishing you and yours God’s richest blessings!

  2. Cathy – so glad to hear your weight loss has helped with your fibromyalgia. I lost 15, and it certainly helped with mine. My doctor told me exercise, diet and massage were the best things to help with mine. Praises that you are feeling better.

    1. Thank you so much, Loraine. I truly believe that it wasn’t only the weight loss, but also exercising and eating better foods. Based on my experience over the past few months, I have become a big believer in eating whole organic foods! Thanks again for your sweet spirit and encouraging words!

  3. Thank you for sharing! I too have ARMD with the right eye holding steady & the left declining. You have inspired me to take action with regard to diet & exercise.
